Arts-Science Encounters 2010
A group of academics from the University of Sheffield secured funding to run a series of lectures and events through the summer of 2010 in which scientists and eminent people from the arts came together to discuss and demonstrate their approaches to a number of themes. In the way of these things the funding available to the organisers was limited. Moving Frame became involved and we negotiated a way of recording five of the events using multi-cameras. The events ranged from an experimental theatre performance on epilepsy, a discussion on the psychology of music, and a lecture by the mathematician Marcus du Satuoy on how the work of some well known creative minds have been led by mathematics, either consciously or otherwise. (Available now at the Global Educational Outreach site.)
The clip included here was put together part way through the project to demonstrate to some of the backers how their money was being used. The videos of the events themselves reside in the Arts-Science project archive.
